An Aussie’s Spiritual Journey in Sedona, AZ

Picture this: the crisp December air, the majestic red rocks, and a group of kindred spirits coming together in pursuit of wellness and connection.

My name is Natalia and I am a 31-year-old marketing professional from Australia who attended the Authentic Sedona retreat in December 2023.

From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for something special. Our intimate group of six, including our facilitators Alexia and Shay, all bonded over the four days. We were all very spiritual people, coming from different faiths and persuasions, so it was interesting to hear about everyone’s different experiences and practices. Everyone was very open, respectful and fun to be around.

The personal connections we made was what made this retreat so special. Whether we were engaging in heart-opening morning yoga sessions or embarking on long hikes through the Sedona Vortexes, there was an undeniable sense of camaraderie that we were able to cultivate. It was refreshing to connect with like-minded individuals who approached life with an open heart and an eagerness to learn from one another.

In typical retreat style, we all stayed in the one property, giving us more of that communal feel. We stayed in a cozy property that came with an awesome fire pit and hot tub — both of which were great for warming up at night. As an Australian, I even got to have my first-ever s’more experience!

The location of the property was great, giving us proximity to nearby cafes, restaurants and bus stops. However, most of our meals were cooked in the house, so we shared family-style meals, which were another opportunity to come together as a group.

Another benefit of the retreat was that our daily itineraries were thoughtfully curated to encompass a blend of adventure and introspection. From visiting the historic Native American petroglyphs at V Bar V Ranch, to hiking through energy vortexes, every excursion unearthed something unique. And the best part? Everything was optional, granting us the freedom to honor our individual paths while relishing in the collective journey.

Now, let’s talk about Alexia, our amazing guide through this transformative experience. Not only does she possess a wealth of knowledge as a yoga teacher and spiritual healer, but her infectious spirit and genuine hospitality infused each day with joy and laughter. Her local expertise led us to hidden gems and local treasures — in the form of natural spots, must-visit shops, and where to taste the best of everything Sedona has to offer — ensuring that every day was filled with wonder and delight.

I especially loved beginning the day with Alexia leading us through a yoga practice, which was both a great physical exercise, as well as a great way to set the right tone for the upcoming day.

In closing, I wholeheartedly recommend this retreat to anyone seeking an authentic, spiritual experience in Sedona. Whether you’re drawn to the breathtaking landscapes, the enriching spiritual practices, or the opportunity to forge meaningful connections, this retreat offers a space to nourish your mind, body and soul.
